Summarise all you have learnt about water in a mind map. An example of a mind map is displayed below to remind you of the sort of thing that is expected from you.
Go to the shops and buy at least one small bottle of water for the practical work we are doing in class. It will have information about the dissolved solids content on the side which is very important. If you are getting more than one bottle make sure they are different varieties. If you have, or know someone who has, a well then a sample of water from that would be good to have too. You could also possibly collect canal, river, bog or seawater but be very careful not to fall in and go with someone to make sure your'e safe.
Task 1: Read pages 202 and 203 of your text book covering hard and soft water and the removal of hardness from water.
Task 2: Then copy in full the mandatory experiment details (32.2 To show that water contains dissolved solids, 32.4 To test various water samples for hardness, with diagrams, on pages 206 and 207. Task 3: Answer questions A 1-10 on pages 208-209, (copy out the full sentence),and also question B2. |
